Grade 8 Steel Yellow Zinc SAE Flat Washers. Grade 8 flat washers have tighter tolerances on thickness and are manufactured from a stronger grade of steel, they are also heat treated. They are used between the bearing surface of the fastener and the part for which you are installing the bolt to be attached. Washers improve the stress distribution. SAE washers have a slightly smaller inside and outside diameter, when compared to USS flat washers. SAE washers were designed specifically for the automotive and engineering fields.
